Important Notice

Our cooperation with the Australian Department of Home Affairs in Nigeria is coming to an end. The last appointments at our centres in Abuja and Lagos will take place on the 31st of May 2019.

From 3rd of June 2019, all visa applications to Australia will be managed by a new external provider.

Please consult the website of the Department of Home Affairs to find the relevant location and procedure for your country.

Visa application process

You should lodge your visa application well in advance of your proposed date of travel.

Please note that the whole application process at the Visa Application Centre should take between 30 to 45 minutes. This is only an estimation and may vary depending on your particular circumstances.

Step 1: Determine the Appropriate Visa Type

Select the visa subclass which corresponds to the purpose and duration of your intended travel to Australia. The Visa Finder can help you choose the appropriate visa type for you.

Step 2: Prepare Application Materials

Once you have determined the appropriate visa type, you will need to prepare the relevant supporting documentation. Common checklists can be found under our Visa Types page.  If you do not provide all the specified documentation at the time you lodge your application, a decision may be made on the basis of the available information. If you submit additional documents to the Australian Visa Application Centre at a later date, you may be charged an additional service fee.

Please note that:

  • Application forms for persons aged under 18 years must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.
  • If you need to submit a document that is NOT in English, it must be accompanied by a certified English translation. A translator in Australia must be accredited by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters. A translator outside Australia does not need to be accredited, but they must endorse the translation with their full name, address, telephone number, and details of their qualifications and experience in the language being translated.

Step 3: Book an Appointment

Book an appointment at our Visa Application Centre to submit your visa application and/or your biometrics by registering on our website .

If you wish to modify/cancel your appointment, or book an appointment for a group of 5 applicants or more, please contact our call centre (contact information here ).

Step 4: Submit your application at the Visa Application Centre

Once you have made your way through security, you will be directed to one of our welcome counters where an agent will check your documents and provide you with a form indicating which documents have been submitted with your application. If any documents are missing, or do not comply with the Department of Home Affairs’ requirements, you may choose to still proceed with your application. You may also choose not to submit your visa application and re-apply at a later date with a more complete application. You should be aware that the visa fee and service fee are not refundable once you have decided to submit your application.

Step 5: Pay for you Visa Application

After the document review stage, pay the visa application charge and the relevant service fees at the cashier. Please note that the following fees are payable:

  • Visa Application Charges, collected on behalf of the Department of Home Affairs for application processing – Payable by debit/credit card in the Visa Application Centre.
  • Application Service Fee, which corresponds to the services provided by TLScontact – Payable by debit/credit card or cash in the Visa application centre.

Step 6: Visa Decision

Once your application has been processed and a decision has been made, you will be notified directly by the Australian Visa Office (Department of Home Affairs) at the contact details you provided (e.g. generally by email).
